In our country and across the world, doctors are often called the second god. At times like these, when the pandemic was across the world and people were dying each day in numbers. Doctors save lives at the stake of their own lives and happiness and made us realise their worth and place in a much better way.

To become a doctor, aspirants have to go through competitive exams and then crack it but, the process behind cracking the entrance and further takes a lot of hard work and patience. Being a doctor is not just a profession but an emotion. In all other profession, professionals deal with non-living things. But in this profession, doctors deal with life and, it requires courage to get through all those difficult situations.

Becoming a doctor is not a cakewalk! One must have the quality of compassion, understanding, empathy, honesty, commitment, humanity and much more.

A doctor who can see and feel the pain of their patients beyond anything will be on top. No matter how best and skilled a surgeon is if he/she doesn’t treat their patients nicely if they fail to give their patients a comfort level, they will not be counted as a good doctor. Hence providing patients with comfort level and respect will always make you an even better doctor.

Apart from that, a doctor should always be truthful to their patients, there should be transparency between the doctor-patient duo.

A doctor should always keep information about patient confidentiality. Confidentiality is a must because that is how a doctor can build a trust-worthy relationship with their patients.

There will be times when it is a question of life and death or unpleasant situations like disclosing an ailment to the patient or family and most physicians have to face it. One must not feel discouraged or afraid to handle such situations as it is a part of your precious job. One of the important qualities of a good doctor is Courage. Doctors must be courageous enough to deal with all the unpleasant or uncomfortable situations in the world of health and life.

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it,” said Nelson Mandela.

A good doctor can not exactly be defined but along with the focus on skills and knowledge, aspirants and doctors should focus on becoming a good human being.
